This game was a break from the league and a chance to build some much needed confidence, and so it proved – eventually !
We were very wobbly in the first ten minutes and quickly went 3 down.
Without the expectation of winning we started playing more sensibly. We stopped putting our defence under unnecessary pressure and began playing the ball between our midfield and forwards.
Gradually the boys began to realise they weren’t being outplayed and confidence grew. They ended the first half playing some nice passing football and didn’t look like conceding further.
The second half was a very open affair with chances at either end. Jack and Jason were spreading the play well and dealing admirably with an aggressive and vocal opponent – who could easily have been booked. Anthony was putting the defence under pressure and creating chances with runs down the inside left channel. At the other end the defence and keeper were very solid, with James doing a particularly good job marking a strong, fast striker.
The final score of 4-1 meant that the second half score was 1-1 with Anthony scoring a confidence boosting goal after a two game drought.

Massive thanks to everyone that helped out today in lots of different roles great effort ( including Reffing ) 👏👏
Hopefully you agree today we were excellent. I thought, we dominated today against a team in a division above us … all the boys played their part today with some great displays. Second half we drew 1-1 and just a shame we conceded 3 early goals … don’t think I could’ve asked for more today though …
I don’t single out individuals but I can’t go with out saying just how good James Morris has come back after lockdown fourth time as Player of the match already 👏👏👏.
This time last season , James was playing in a range of positions but this year has absolutely nailed it as a defender 😊⚽️
