After a break of six weeks – since our friendly game against Ashurst Wood U13s – our first competitive football match began on December 6th.
We were currently sitting at fourth to the bottom place on the league table. With our points not looking too good, we knew we had to win this match. We had already played Crawley & Maidenbower Panthers Blue in the Cup Match and we won 6-1. Though we knew we could win this game but we didn’t want to get complacent.
The defence was strong and when we had the ball in the middle, the midfields distribution was wide – the just what we needed. The wingers pressed on the full backs which caused us to score quite a few.
We started the first half strongly. Lewis scoring fantastic three goals – his hat trick , Jack’s brilliant header from a corner, me scoring one goal and with a bit of (mis)fortune, opponents gave away to us another goal by their an own goal. It was 6-0 to us by half time.
The second half kicked off and we held our ground in strong command. We nearly let a few creep in but our defence remained strong to clear it up in a calm manner and kept our clean sheet. Further up the pitch we managed to slot few goals in. Lewis scoring another comfortable goal, Abdurahman by slick nudge into the net and me kicking into the net in desperate.
As we nearing to end of the match, fatigue played a massive part in us not being able to score more and to reach the double digit that our manager, coaches and our team would be happy with.
Full time score : 9-0 to us.
Honourable mentions go to Will for not conceding. And also to Miran and Lewis for playing outstandingly. Even with our formation change, the team adapted well and played as a team.
Well deserved ‘Man of the match’ went to Lewis Jones for managing to get a hatrick in the first half plus one more goal in the second half.
We move on to next week where we play the Galaxy Thunder which is currently in third place in the league table in our division with 13 points. Today’s win has given us total point of 10 on the table. So let’s keep our hard work and commitment to venture further up the table.
